Whose Vision Is It?

The artist has transformed her DNA into a visual code creating a conceptual self-portrait. Clare has worked with a scientist to have her DNA amplified against the arginine vasopressin 1a receptor gene (AVPR1A) and specifically a micro-satellites called RS3. The number of repeats in this micro-satellite e.g acacacacacacac (green+blue) and agagagagagagag (green+black) have been linked in research papers to the creative gene and are present within the artists DNA.

This work seeks to develop links between science and the arts raising interesting questions regarding the conceptual representation of the individual.

Special thanks to Sam Decombel and Nick Stoler.
